The Bournville Cricket Pavilion is situated near Bournville Lane in Bournville and was built in 1902, by H Bedford Tyler. It is used by the Bournville Sports & Crown Green Sports Club.

The Bournville Cricket Pavilion is located at the Cadbury Men's Recreation Grounds, on Bournville Lane in Bournville, Birmingham, B30 1JR.

 

In brief

The Coronation Cricket Pavilion was opened in time for the 1902 coronation of King Edward VII, hence the name. It was a gift to Bournville Cricket Club. H Bedford Tyler was the architect.

 

Bournville Cricket Pavilion - History of the build

Built in 1902 to the designs of H Bedford Tyler, the Bournville Cricket Pavilion was one of the earliest buildings to be complete in George Cadbury's model village of Bournville.

Built of brick with half timbering and pebbledash.

It was built next to the Cadbury Men's Recreation Ground, which today is used by the Bournville Sports & Crown Green Bowls Club.

In the past it had been used a few times by Worcestershire County Cricket Club before the First World War, and in recent decades by the Warwickshire Second XI (when not at Edgbaston).

It had also been named The Coronation Cricket Pavilion, as it was built to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. It has been a Grade II listed building since 1982, under the name Men's Pavilion (Bournville Club).
