Witton Lakes Park, Birmingham - A wonderful open space!

Witton Lakes are a pair of former drinking water reservoirs between the Perry Common and Erdington areas of Birmingham.


Witton Lakes Park is located in Witton, Birmingham. Between Upper Witton and Perry Common.

It is on Perry Common Road and Bleak Hill Road. Also near Gyspy Lane.

Witton Lakes is located to the east of Witton Cemetery, and is also close to Brookvale Park.

There is open fields with paths at Witton Lakes Park near Perry Common Road.

There is a path that leads to North Birmingham Academy. Also near Wilson Stuart School and Bluesky Nursery.

History of Witton Lakes Park

The lakes were created at the end of the 19th century to supply drinking water for Birmingham.

One of the lakes is used for model boating and the other nature conservation. The north Birmingham cycle route runs through the surrounding park.

The Brooks

There is a pair of Brooks that flows into Witton Lakes, then out towards Brookvale Park Lake. Starting at Kingstanding and Bleak Hill in Erdington. They eventually reach the River Tame.

The first lake at Witton Lakes

This section of Witton Lakes is to the eastern side of the park, and is much smaller. Seen on the walk from Perry Common Road.

The path between both lakes

A path splits both lakes in half with a footbridge in the middle, with benches to sit down and watch the birds.

The second lake at Witton Lakes

The larger lake is to the south west of the park, and leads to a waterfall / dam that goes into the second Brook. The path beyond leads towards Brookvale Park via Marsh Hill.
